friendly offers to near strangers
She looked him over appreciatively until her eyes fell on his wrist. He was wearing a beaded bracelet with a woman's name inscribed on it.
"I wonder if Kate is also wearing one with your name," said she.
He looked down at it and half smiled, "most likey not. We broke up."
"I'm guessing it wasn't your idea?"
"Does it cease to be a nice accessory if we're no longer together?"
She pinned him with a sideways look. He sucked in a breath and looked away. Then he let it out in a slow, loaded sigh before turning to look at her again.
Her mouth stretched into a tight-lipped, knowing smile.
"So rebound sex?" offered she.
He sucked in his breath again, but this time he didn't look away.

The Hunters Parody snippets
"He picked up the guitar with the broken strings and sat down to play. He tried to tease a semblance of a melody from the remaining three strings. All he managed was a series of scraping, half chords. The sound increasingly infuriated him. After trying for 5 more minutes he slapped the helpless guitar and angrily ripped the remaining chords from it. He found solace in the sudden quiet and lay down his head on the back of the sofa. without his permission, his eyes closed and he fell into a deep sleep."
Arrgh! there's a man in my bed!

marooned (re'mastered)
the promise of mental forays into territories ignored;
I'm excited I took this call;
lets question the x+y’s of our tired lives;
let’s mock the quo like it doesn’t affect our strife
let’s pretend like we’re invictus and reality won’t evict us
from our high horses, while we sing along to bands that don’t even exist yet,
We'll make music of our own tapping our feet to the beat, swearing that’s what music ought to be.
We’ll pant to that chant that’s made more rounds around the sun than songs have been sung
and convince ourselves that our connection is better than others, because ours is a land unchartered.
We’ll lie to ourselves that our ideas are grand,
scheming our next thought on what’s fickle because it’s all fickle; what’s under the sun;
they flicker, bloom and die, we all die
but for now, we’ll stay locked up in your room only coming up for air to stare at your walls of maroon we’ll leave the world on your doorstep, fighting to invade our space with reality’s wet blanket, but it’ll take only our sunsets to expressly relieve us from these four walls of our non-confinement.
